International Commercial Arbitration and the international sale of goods program

This 02 month program is the best for any budding lawyer to dive deep into the world of International Commercial Arbitration and the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The program sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program by the US Department of Commerce includes extensive training on both Ad-hoc and Institutional Arbitration Procedure. The team(s) that are selected after the National Selection Rounds will be selected to represent Sri Lanka and the respective universities at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria and the sister moot in Hong Kong.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

  1. Applicants must be enrolled in a University which offers an undergraduate or equivalent professional qualification in Law or related field.
  2. Applicant must submit a 2 page CV and a 2 minute video stating why they should be selected for the program on the respective google form which will be available when the program opens.
  3. Applicants must possess the ability to prioritize and fully commit to the program, including long hours of training and research (Minimum 6 to 8 hours daily).

Jackson Trade Law Moot in Geneva, Switzerland in 2022.

THE MEDIATION AND NEGOTIATION PROGRAM

The Mediation Program is MCB’s newest addition for 2021. The Program enables students and practitioners alike to develop their mediation and negotiation skills across multiple selected competitions around the world. Some of the key platforms include, the Singapore International Mediation Institute 2021 (SIMI) Mediation Competition, the ICC-Asia Pacific Mediation Competition 2021 and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Mediation Competition 2022. 

The program also involve a series of training workshops and classes conducted by experts and alumni. This will be followed by a National Round to select the team(s) to represent Sri Lanka and their university at ICC-APMC 2021.

With Sri Lanka being a signatory to the 2019 Singapore Convention on Mediation, the scope for mediators just got much broader than ever before.
