International Commercial Arbitration Program

Sri Lankan Vis teams at the IAC Central Asia Vis Pre-Moot 2022

This 3-month program is the best for any budding lawyer to dive deep into the world of International Commercial Arbitration and the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The Program sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program by the US Department of Commerce includes extensive training on both Ad-hoc and Institutional Arbitration Procedure.

The team(s) that are selected after the National Selection Rounds will be selected to represent Sri Lanka and the respective universities at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria and its sister moot in Hong Kong.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

  1. Applicants must be enrolled in a University which offers an undergraduate or equivalent professional qualification in Law or related field.
  2. Applicants must submit a 2-page CV and a 2-minute video stating why they should be selected for the program on the respective google form which will be available when the program opens.
  3. Applicants must possess the ability to prioritize and fully commit to the program, including long hours of training and research.

International Trade Law Program

This 09 month mooting experience is the best for any budding lawyer to dive deep into the world of International Trade Law focusing on the World Trade Organization (WTO).  The team(s) that are selected will represent Sri Lanka and their respective universities at the John H. Jackson Trade Law Moot in Geneva, Switzerland in 2023.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

  1. Applicants must be enrolled in a University which offers an undergraduate or equivalent professional qualification in Law or related field.
  2. Applicants must submit a 2 page CV and a 2 minute video presenting an argument on the following topic: Has free trade helped or hampered recovery from the pandemic? on the respective google form which will be available when the program opens.
  3. Applicants must possess the ability to prioritize and fully commit to the program, including long hours of training and research.

International Commercial Mediation Program

The Sri Lankan ICC Paris 2022 Team from APIIT Law School

The first of its kind in Sri Lanka, the ICM Program is delivered to expand the pool of trained ADR professionals in Mediation by contributing towards the development of the next generation of young, skilled Mediation and Mediation Advocates and conclusively create future leaders of the ADR arena. 

Phase I of the ICM Program enables students to learn and develop their skills in International Commercial Mediation via our holistic 24-hour training program developed and delivered by the best scholars in the world of Mediation internationally and locally. Selected students then partake in Phase II where students put their learned skills to the test in simulated mediations at the MCB Mediation National Rounds.

The team(s) that are selected after the Mediation National Rounds gain the opportunity of being trained by the Moot Court Bench to represent Sri Lanka at prestigious international platforms such as the ICC Paris Commercial Mediation Competition.
