INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION (ICA) PROGRAM
For anyone looking for the first step to dive into International Commercial Arbitration and the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG), then look no further. This 3-month program offered by the MCB is tailor-made to provide you with a focused study of this area of law, whether you are a budding lawyer, or a professional interested in International Commercial Law. If selected to be a part of this program, you will be taught by leaders in the profession, and will have access to a wide array of resources and supporting material.
While the ICA Program by the MCB is a program of its own, it also serves as a selection process for Sri Lankan law students who wish to take part in the prestigious Vis Moot Competitions The team(s) that are selected after the National Selection Rounds will be selected to represent Sri Lanka and the respective universities at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria and its sister moot in Hong Kong.

- Applicants must possess the ability to prioritize and fully commit to the program, including long hours of training and research.

The ICA Program changed my perception of arbitration and the way I view problems in general. I was able to accumulate both a theoretical and practical understanding of international arbitration as well as international commercial law from well-known professionals in the field. I was also made to understand the fundamentals of writing and formatting a memorandum, and making a persuasive point through the Written and Oral Advocacy phases of this program. The ICA Program was an experience like no other. It was an introduction to the ever-evolving arena of International Commercial Arbitration, and an opportunity to expand my knowledge all at the feet of Vis alumni as well as recognized experts in the field. It also opened the door to a one-of-a-kind journey that was the Vis. It allowed me to represent my country and university around the world, culminating in the 31st Vis Moot 2024. The ICA Program, and the Vis, were experiences that will undoubtedly last me a lifetime, with memories and experiences I can always look back to.
